Setting Up Your Harmony Swings: A Step-by-Step Guide

Hello, Harmony in the Woods Volunteers!

Kurt from Hemlock Mountain Outdoors here. Today, I’m excited to guide you through the setup process of the new Harmony Swings, designed for those seeking tranquility in the great outdoors. Whether you're familiar with hammock setups or new to them, you'll find that our custom suspension system is engineered to provide ease and adaptability. Let’s get started.

Introduction to Harmony Swings

The Harmony Swings come with innovative features that might be new to some, even for seasoned hammock users. This setup guide will focus on these unique features to ensure a swift assembly that maximizes your comfort and convenience.

Get Acquainted with the Components

Before setting up, it's essential to understand the components:

  • Tree Straps: These are adjustable and come pre-equipped with carabiners. On one end, there’s a sewn loop with visible threads.
  • Cinch Buckle: This is crucial for adjusting the suspension length. It ensures the hammock stays securely in place.

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Securing the Tree Straps: Begin by wrapping the tree strap around a tree trunk. If the tree is smaller, you can loop the strap around twice or even thrice. Feed the entire suspension through the sewn loop.
  2. Adjust the Cinch Buckle: The cinch buckle, critical for adjusting tension, can slide along the suspension. Pinch the suspension to make adjustments—pull to tighten or loosen as needed.
  3. Carabiner and Safety Tips: Always keep the carabiner attached. If it detaches by accident, easily reattach by feeding the webbing through the cinch buckle, ensuring the flat side is behind and down, while the rounded side is forward.
  4. Repeating the Process: For the opposite end, follow the same steps. Ensure the suspension maintains a straight line to avoid unnecessary stress points when weight is applied.

Setting Up the Hammock

  1. Installing the Hammock: With one end secured, connect the hammock’s rope (from the opening on the bottom) to the carabiner. Undo the cord lock and pull the hammock to the other side's carabiner, adjusting tension as required.
  2. Perfecting the Positioning: Particularly when trees are closely spaced, adjust until you achieve desired tension. Ensure an even surface for both comfort and safety.
  3. Find Comfort in Your Hammock: Make sure to empty pockets of sharp objects before settling in. For the best experience, lay at an angle or 'catty-corner' across the hammock.

Taking Down the Harmony Swing

  1. Dismantling the Setup Safely: To disassemble, reverse the setup process. Unclip the hammock starting from the bag end.
  2. Using the Stuff Sack Efficiently: As the name suggests, you can simply ‘stuff’ the hammock into the sack. The bags are ample enough for easy storing.
  3. Tree Strap Care: Remove the straps gently to prevent tree damage, then fold or roll them as preferred for storage back into the sack.
