Celebrating 100 Years of Lake Wallenpaupack with a Limited Edition Hammock Collection
Share
Few places in Pennsylvania hold the same kind of memories as Lake Wallenpaupack.
For generations, families have gathered along its shores to fish, boat, camp, swim, watch sunsets, and simply enjoy time outdoors. In 2026, one of Pennsylvania's most iconic destinations celebrates a remarkable milestone: the Centennial of Lake Wallenpaupack.
To honor 100 years of adventure, Hemlock Mountain Outdoors is proud to introduce a special limited-edition Lake Wallenpaupack Centennial Hammock Collection.
A Lake Built for the Future
Although Lake Wallenpaupack feels as natural as the surrounding mountains, it is actually a remarkable engineering achievement.
Construction began in 1924 and was completed in 1926 when Pennsylvania Power & Light created the reservoir to provide hydroelectric power for the region. The project employed approximately 2,700 workers and transformed a valley of farms, roads, and small communities into the 5,700-acre lake we know today. The reservoir stretches roughly 13 miles long, features 52 miles of shoreline, and remains one of Pennsylvania's largest and most beloved lakes.
The name "Wallenpaupack" comes from the Lenape people and is often translated as "the stream of swift and slow water," a fitting description for a place that can feel energetic on a summer afternoon and perfectly peaceful at sunrise.
Over the past century, the lake has grown from a hydroelectric project into the centerpiece of the Northern Poconos. Today, it serves as a destination for boating, fishing, kayaking, camping, hiking, snowmobiling, eagle watching, and countless family traditions.
A Century of Memories
Ask ten people what Lake Wallenpaupack means to them and you'll likely get ten different answers.
For some, it's early morning fishing trips with a grandparent.
For others, it's summer weekends at the family cabin, tubing behind a boat, evening campfires, or watching fireworks reflect across the water.
Some remember learning to waterski. Others remember catching their first bass, paddling a quiet cove in a kayak, or simply relaxing under the shade of a tree overlooking the lake.
The common thread is that Lake Wallenpaupack isn't just a destination.
It's a place where memories are made.
That spirit is exactly what inspired this commemorative hammock collection.
The Centennial Hammock Collection
To celebrate the lake's 100th anniversary, Hemlock Mountain Outdoors created two exclusive hammock designs available in both our RedTail and WestRim hammock platforms. Click her to check them out!
Each hammock proudly features the official Lake Wallenpaupack Centennial logo and is handcrafted in Pennsylvania using durable Hexon 1.6 fabric with a 350-pound weight capacity.
Wally Fade
Inspired by the water itself, the Wally Fade pattern transitions from deep navy blue into lighter lake-inspired blues.
The design captures the feeling of looking across Wallenpaupack on a calm summer day, where darker water stretches into bright reflections under an open sky.
Simple, clean, and unmistakably connected to the lake, Wally Fade celebrates the water that has drawn visitors to Wallenpaupack for generations.
Camopaupack
For those who prefer something uniquely local, Camopaupack takes a different approach.
This custom camouflage pattern is built from the actual shapes and contours of Lake Wallenpaupack itself.
At first glance it appears to be a traditional outdoor camouflage pattern. Look closer and you'll discover the recognizable coves, shorelines, and outlines that make Wallenpaupack one of Pennsylvania's most distinctive lakes.
It's a design created specifically for this centennial celebration and available nowhere else.
Built for Adventure
Both centennial designs are available in two hammock styles:
RedTail Series
Our feature-rich gathered-end hammock system complete with integrated MultiMode Bug Net, ridgeline organizer, peak storage pouch, and included cinch buckle suspension.

Centennial celebrations only happen once.
Whether Lake Wallenpaupack has been part of your life for decades or you've recently discovered everything the region has to offer, these hammocks represent a unique moment in the lake's history.
A hundred years ago, thousands of workers transformed a valley into a lake.
Today, that lake continues to bring together families, friends, campers, anglers, paddlers, and outdoor enthusiasts from across Pennsylvania and beyond.
We created this collection to celebrate those memories and help create the next generation of them.
So hang it beside the lake.
