New Tarps with Dyneema® Composite Fabric

New Tarps with Dyneema® Composite Fabric

One of the most common questions I've been asked since launching Hemlock Mountain Outdoors is "Do you make tarps from Dyneema® ?"I've always hesitated because of the cost, it's a lot of money to ask someone to spend when you are a new brand.

As I got ready to launch the RedTail M lightweight camping hammock, I started looking more seriously into Dyneema® Composite Fabric. I know how to make tarps well... my personal tarp is my prototype to the 1209, it's pushing 4 years of heavy trail use and has been battered by rain, sleet, snow, ice and falling branches without so much as a drippy seam. I think the time has come.

So, I've launched an open Pilot Program for our new '09 Tarp made with Dyneema® Composite Fabric to get the ball rolling. What exactly does that mean though?

  • I offer a product (in this case DCF tarps) at a cost that covers the fabric and a little bit of my time and you, the customer, gets a quality, handcrafted piece of gear at a much lower price.
  • It's a similar approach to a crowdfunding campaign, but without the wait on your end.
  • It's open so there's no invitations or need to contact HMO. If you want to get in on a low cost DCF Tarp.. just order.
  • If you are looking for a specific configuration contact me and I'll see what I can do.

I know that there is going to be a learning curve working with DCF, and I will tweak the built process as I go, so not every DCF Tarp sold during the Pilot Program will have the same stitching pattern or tie out reinforcements for example. But they will all be ready to hit the trail.

Dyneema® Tarps currently start at just $260 for a 10' DCF tarp with no cordage, BUT during this pilot program you can get an 11' DCF tarpwith cordage for $295. That's an 11' DCF Tarp with cordage for under $300!!!

Check out what you can get during this limited time pilot program on the '09 Tarp made with Dyneema® Composite Fabric product page. Right now the pictures shown are for reference but as they start rolling off the table more pics will go up.
