Hemlock Mountain Outdoors is Growing... Wanna Help?

Posted by Kurt Zitzelman on

TLDR: HMO is running a fundraiser to help grow the business at: https://gofund.me/5fee357e

I started making hammocks back in 2016, the very first one I nicknamed "Orang-a-Hang" because it was all orange:

It was a 9 foot, single wide day hammock made from 1.0oz HyperD, and I used it as my go-to day hammock up until recently. There's nothing wrong with it, but I've been showing some love to my 10 foot WestRim UL made with Monolite this past summer.

A lot has changed since those first few prototype hammocks. I started making tarps and quilts, some pouches and netted hammocks. Started offering Dyneema® and Monolite options. Set up manufacturer-direct accounts for some of the materials I use. Shipped gear around the world to 36 states and 7 different countries. All of this from my small home based shop.

It's time to grow.

I am trying to get a running start to move to a different type of business. I'd like to get away from the need for Lead Times, by having the gear ready made and ready to ship - only needing lead times for custom orders. So, I've started a GoFundMe campaign to see if I can find some people willing to help me get out of my home based shop and at the very least be able to make a large material order to start offering ready made gear. If you are interested in helping or at least sharing the GoFundMe it can be found at https://gofund.me/5fee357e

I've also made a video that is a sort of tour of my current shop space:
